Ten months inside a startup, holding design and client success at once

DayOne is a Bengaluru tech company. I joined full-time in January 2023 and wore two hats: sole designer and Client Success Manager. The design side meant every piece of marketing and brand material the company put out. The client side meant owning the relationships, the deliverables and the escalations.

Built processes to keep design moving while client work ran in parallel, because there was nobody else to hand either half to. It was a resource-limited environment, which is the environment I already knew — the difference was doing it inside someone else's structure rather than my own.

Nine years of running my own businesses invites one obvious question from a hiring manager: can this person work inside a company, to someone else's priorities? This is the answer. Ten months, full-time, on-site, holding a client-facing title.

GetMyCreative stayed open the whole time. I staffed delivery with part-timers and the freelance bench and stayed accountable for the book without running the day-to-day. It came out of 2023 intact and hit its ₹5,00,000 peak in 2024.
